Will Fox's "hit" show be renewed? See what we think by clicking "Read More".
Well the show "Terra Nova" broadcasted on the FOX network has received much attention. Not mostly due to how good(or bad) it was, but more like if it will be renewed or not. The pilot episode cost an estimated 10 to 20 MILLION dollars. If you don't know, the main numbers networks look at are the 18-49 demographic recorded through Nielsen. Lets give some examples. A 3.0 rating is good for a show. A 2.0 is usually low. But for NBC a 2.0 is good, and it's AMAZING for the CW(most of their shows are in the 0.6-0.8 range). Modern Family usually gets around 5.0(which is VERY high). Grey's Anatomy gets around 3.1-3.6 and The Biggest Loser gets around 2.1. For FOX the average for a scripted show on their network is around 2.7. Here are "Terra Nova"'s ratings:
-September 26th 3.1{Series Premiere}
-October 3rd 3.1
-October 10th 2.5
-October 17th 2.8
-October 31st 2.1 Since it was Halloween, almost all shows fell.
-November 7th 2.6
-November 14th 2.3
-November 21st 2.1
-November 28th 2.2
-December 12th 2.1
-December 19th 2.2 {Season Finale}
Season 1 Average: 2.46
It has been reported that "Terra Nova" is bought by FOX for 4 million dollars on average an episode, which is 3 tenths of a million higher than the average broadcast show. And FOX needs to make a profit by earning money from ad revenue. Networks pay for ad revenue is based on the 18-49 Demographic rating. High demo(5.0)? Lots of money. Low Demographic(1.5)? Not much money at all. So to cover how much FOX paid per episode they would need a pretty high demo rating.
TVBroadcastCraze has determined that FOX is realistically going to CANCEL "Terra Nova".
Comment what you think. This is obviously not saying if it will be cancelled or not, it could be renewed but this is the most realistic assumption.
The preceding was fact based, but saying it was cancelled is technically an opinion. We do not own or claim the rights to Terra Nova, FOX, or the picture used. Or any copyrighted material referenced. All data can be found at tvbythenumbers.com.
