Matthew Perry's Series Gets Officially Picked Up

Matthew Perry's new comedy series "Go On" has been picked up for a 13 episode order. Click read more below to continue the article:

Last year, the former Friends star led a show called Mr. Sunshine on the ABC Network. Mr. Sunshine premiered to a 3.7 in the adults 18-49 Nielsen rating, which determines a shows fate. It was the highest midseason scripted debut for ABC in three years. But soon after, the show had lost 67% of its audience, falling to a 1.4 rating. Than in May, it was given the axe by ABC and Perry's return to primetime, was cut short. The same thing happened a few years earlier. In 2006, NBC had picked up his show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip which was a show-about-a-show. The same year, successful 30 Rock was airing it's first season and their was speculation that only one of the two shows would be renewed. Studio 60 was an expensive show with mediocre ratings, and was then cancelled by the Network on May 11th of 2007. So Go On may have to be Matthew Perry's real comeback. Laura Benanti, Julie White,  Suzy Nakamura, Allison Miller, and Khary Payton co-star along with famed Perry. The Single-Cam comedy has Matthew Perry playing a sportscaster who finds himself in a mandatory support meeting, after trying to cope with a loss. Since it is early in Pilot Season, the show will get an early pick at writers, which is what any new series strives for. The straight-to-series 13 episode order is not the first, as NBC has announced the straight-to-series horror/thriller show Hannibal will be airing next year as well. Stay tuned for more info on pilot and Go On.
