What TV Shows Are You Going to See Next Season?

It's pilot season! That may not seem like an interesting phrase to some, but it will affect what shows up on you're television during prime time next year. Networks are scrambling to pickup pilots for TV shows for the upcoming season. They watch it. Review it, see if it has potential, and possibly do a few demographic tests to see how well it will possibly perform. Right now the 5 major networks are in that stage. Later (May/June-ish) the networks will announce official pick-ups and the Fall schedule. Here are the pilots the networks are looking at: (Click below to read more)

NBC:
   - Hannibal is one of the few shows that have already been picked up for a 13 episode order. NBC ordered this murder mystery drama as a direct-to-series television show. The pilot was directed by the man who directed The Twilight Saga  films as well as, NBC's likely to be cancelled show, but critically acclaimed Awake. It follows a special agent Will Graham working a tough case of disappearing female college attendees. He calls upon Dr. Hannibal Lector to help him solve this baffling case, not knowing that the man he is working with is a cannibalistic psychopath.

  - Save Me is a comedy that we don't have much knowledge on yet. It is produced by NBC and has received early negative feedback, mostly because of the tone of the series. But after the full pilot was seen by critics, it was praised. This show has NOT been picked up yet to series.

  - Dramas Do No Harm and the Drama-Mystery Midnight Sun has received some early, positive attention, although the premise of the pilots are mostly unknown. County which is medical drama has also received positive feedback.

  - Go On starring Matthew Perry is a new comedy pilot NBC is considering.

-Animal Kingdom, 1600 Penn(which is a white-house family related comedy), LadyFriends, Table for Three, an Untitled Jimmy Fallon Production, and a family type of comedy The New Normal are all comedies that NBC is looking at.

  - An expensive pilot The Frontier which just shot in Australia(where the incredibly expensive but low-rated Terra Nova shot) is being considered for pick-up and possibly put on the upcoming fall schedule.

  - Lastly, an untitled Sarah Silverman pilot is in the works, but lots of demographic testing is going to be done before and if it goes to series.

CBS:

   - Ralph Lamb is a period drama that has a high-end cast featuring Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis, Jason O' Mara, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

  - Elementary is a stone-age Sherlock Homes drama with a modern-day spin.

  - A possible already favored by the network show, Applebaum seems to have promise, although it dealt with a difficult casting process.

  - Trooper is a procedural crime/cop show featuring a mother working as a state trooper. It has received positive reviews up to this point.

  - Partners is a new comedy pilot that has received early, positive buzz while another comedy pilot Dorf/Falcone has received mixed reviews.

CBS pilots come later, more like May so this is why the CBS section has been lackluster.

FOX:

  - A Kevin Williamson project is in production. It apparently has a very strong script and cast.

  - An Untitled Karyn Usher pilot is in the works. It is a teen-spy drama, lead by actress Saxon Sharbino. She has received positive reviews for her performance so far.

  - The Asset is a government drama revolving around a woman CIA agent.

  - Guilty and Berman/Wright are two other dramas in production, with little known information circulating about the two.

  - Little Brother is a comedy in pilot mode that almost got the premature axe due to casting difficulties, but stuck around and ending up impressing the guys(and gals) at FOX, especially with the chemistry between actors John Stamos and TJ Miller.

  - El Jefe is a comedy pilot about a spoiled young man living a privileged life, who has just moved in with his Nanny who is Latino.

  - Mindy Kaling has gotten positive attention, being a medical-office based comedy.

  - Like Father and Living Loaded are half hour pilots that haven't exactly gotten positive or negative reception.

CW:

  - Arrow and The Carrie Diaries have almost positive spots on the CW's fall line-up. The title's have been sold to the CW and the images released by the network are receiving pretty good attention. The premise of the two series are unknown.

  - Beauty and the Beast is a name anyone who had access to the outside world growing up will know. The show is known to be in the pilot stage with the CW, but not much else has been released about it.

  - First Cut is medical related drama staring the incredibly famed, Academy Award winner Meryl Streep's daughter, Mamie Gummer.

  - The Selection is a drama loosely based around book and new smash-hit movie The Hunger Games. A couple of years ago, the CW picked up the pilot to series for The Vampire Diaries(which is now the network's highest rated show) just after the first movie from The Twilight Saga was released, hoping to be the first to jump on the vampire bandwagon.

The CW does not air comedy/half-hour television shows. It is rumored that the network is moving towards them in the coming years, but it is not set in stone.

ABC:

  - Mistress is a fun, campy soap drama. It has almost a hundred percent of getting on the ABC prime time schedule- but not necessarily in the fall. Mistress, like NBC's Hannibal has been ordered straight-to-series. The pilot is being filmed right along with the other regular ABC pilots, but has a spot on the 2013 summer schedule. ABC will consider the pilot to be put on the upcoming fall schedule, based on how well it is received. Missing which premiered this season(to bleak ratings) also was set for 2012 Summer schedule, but was ended up being launched midseason of the 2011-2012 TV season.

  - Scruples, Americana, Devious Maids, Gilded Lilies, and Nashville are similar type of soap dramas. That format has worked for ABC in the past (see: Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy). Gilded Lilies is the only show out of the five that have actually been reviewed. The show has gotten positive feedback.

  - 666 Park Avenue which was just shot in the Big Apple, has gotten some positive feedback. It is a supernatural show. Two other supernatural shows they have lined up are Gotham and CW same-name show Beauty and the Beast.

  - A drama Last Resort has shown more than two dimensions, apparently looking like a good contender for the upcoming season.

  - Prairie Dogs, Awesometown, and How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life are three new comedies getting some buzz, and a possible to series pick-up.

 - Finally, Malibu Country, starring Reba McEntire has an almost definite to series pick-up because Reba reels in viewers by the millions.
